Whitman County landowners now have the opportunity to apply for cost-share to implement practices that will help protect the five critical areas identified in the Whitman VSP Work Plan. Applications will be accepted from July 1st, 2023 to August 31st, 2023.
5 Critical Areas:
Wetlands – Inundated or saturated by surface or groundwater
Frequently Flooded Areas – Subject to a 1% or greater chance of flooding every year
Severe Geological Hazard Areas – Susceptible to erosion, sliding, and other events
Critical Aquifer Recharge Areas – Have a critical effect on aquifers for potable water
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Areas – Managed to maintain fish & wildlife population
